This tire pressure reset tool, or learning device, is designed to simplify the sensor re-matching process after tire changes, body control module replacements, or sensor replacements. The sensor re-read-in procedure must be executed in these scenarios to ensure the accuracy of the tire pressure value display.
Specifications: - Material: ABS - Color: Orange + Black - Size: 6.1 x 2.4 x 1.4 Inches - Package Includes: 1 x Relearn Tool for Auto Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor
The re-learning process is as follows: 1. Ensure the vehicle is in TPMS learning mode. 2. Following the maintenance procedures, hold the tool in order (left front, right front, right rear, left rear) and position it near the valve stem on the tire sidewall. Press the reset button. 3. The green LED light (TX light) will illuminate, indicating a signal is being transmitted. You will then hear a beep from the car, confirming a successful sensor match. 4. Repeat the process for the remaining tires.
The EL-50448 tool, or an equivalent, can be used to diagnose sensor function. Each sensor has an internal low-frequency coil. When TPMS is enabled, a low-frequency signal activates the sensor, prompting it to transmit its identification code. The body control module then assigns this code to the corresponding vehicle location based on the read-in sequence.
In standstill mode, each sensor takes a pressure measurement every 30 seconds. If the pressure increases or decreases by more than 8.3 kPa (1.2 psi) from the last reading, an immediate re-measurement is taken to confirm the pressure change.
The EL-50448 works on most General Motors vehicles manufactured for the North American market that are equipped with a 315 or 433 MHz TPMS system. It will not function with aftermarket sensors of the wrong frequency.
To use the EL-50448 TPMS Activation Tool: 1. Set the gearshift to "P" and turn the ignition to "ON". Enter the tire pressure display interface and select "Press Set / Ctrl to re-learn". 2. Starting with the front-left wheel, hold the tool's antenna against the valve stem and press the start switch. A successful read is confirmed by a horn beep. 3. Repeat step 2 for the remaining wheels in the correct order (front-right, rear-right, rear-left). 4. Upon completion, the turn signals will flash for 3 seconds and the horn will beep twice.
The re-learn procedure is necessary for certain vehicles equipped with a TPMS system after tire rotations, Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Module replacement, or Tire Pressure Sensor replacement.
